Two of the world's foremost humpback whale experts, Dr. Paul Forestell and Greg Kaufman, will be leading VIP Whalewatch ecotours in Hervey Bay over the next two weekends, August 5 & 6 and August 12 & 13. Greg Kaufman was a pioneer in benign (non-invasive) whale research in the late 1970s, and a champion in the international movement to put an end to whaling. He is also the Founder and Executive Director of Pacific Whale Foundation, an international organisation dedicated to protecting whales and their ocean habitat through science and advocacy. 

Dr. Paul Forestell is an internationally recognized and widely published expert on marine mammals and has participated in numerous scientific workshops and government advisory groups focusing on whales, dolphins, ocean resources, and science education.

Join in a very special workshop with artists Leigh West and Karen Roberts and create your very own deep sea creature, then watch as your sea monster is brough to life in an animation. Join the Whale Parade on 19 August and be our guests at the premier screening of the "Mermaids & Monsters of the Deep" animation starring your creation, on the big screen at Seafront Oval.

The Marine Rescue Hervey Bay base will be open for inspection, with displays of equipment, rescue vessels and our capabilities. Merchandise will be available on sale. This is an opportunity for the public to see the role MRHB plays in the community and also showcases fulfilling opportunities for those seeking to volunteer.

The sessions include: stories, singing, finger plays, puppets, props and craft activities. This storytime will also include a visit from Harvey the Whale and lantern craft.
